About Luxx

Luxus-Arctica focuses on the genres of Ambient Electronica and Minimal Ambient music.  We hope to expand sooner rather than later into the indie/folk/ambient area as well as very select synth pop style music.  We focus on free (preferably Creative Commons) releases and promote some releases for purchase.  We look forward to offering our artists everything they need to get their releases off the ground.  This includes advertising, networking, identity, and even design.  The founder of Luxus-Arctica International is

Joseph Snodgrass – musician (The Lights Galaxia), lyricist/writer, and founder of Lounging Sound Radio (www.loungingsound.com), which is now owned by Jourdan Laik.  Snodgrass main website (the network for any sub-existing websites related to the Oak + Stag network) is: oakandstag.tumblr.com .  Also contributing to primary Luxx projects are Daniel Davis [musician (Carl Sagan's Ghost, The Lights Galaxia, et al)] as Co-Producer; Devin Underwood [musician (Specta Ciera, Drexon Field)] as Field Recording and Backdrop Engineer; and Jourdan Laik [musician + photographer (Paradisaic, Daevine, and Enspiar.com)] as Principle Photographer.  Luxx is based out of Spokane, Washington.

A brief note: For short we refer to Luxus-Arctica, at times, as Luxx. This is taken from our catalogue number. The second ‘x’ is a commemorative note to the Long Now Foundation and a focus on the previous and future 10,000 years. We also note this in the use of dates (all years start with ’0′ (ie; 02009)). The Long Now Foundation hopes to provide counterpoint to today’s “faster/cheaper” mind set and promote “slower/better” thinking. We hope to creatively foster responsibility in the framework of the next 10,000 years. The name “Long Now” was coined by none other than Ambient music’s father, Brian Eno, a founding board member of the Foundation. We thank Mr. Eno, Stewart Brand, our personal contact Danielle Engelman, and all at the Foundation for their continued efforts in helping the world realize the importance of our futures.  Additionally we credit Carl Sagan, Isaac Asimov, Theodore Roszak, Stephen J. Gould, and Bill Nye for their service in educating the public about science and important ideas.
